Superbolt® Multi-Jackbolt stud/bolt Tensioners take the high preload requirements in large diameter bolting and breaks it down into manageable torques using the jackbolts threaded through the nut body. See below chart (C-1) for this breakdown.
The advantage is obvious, but how exactly do our Multi-Jackbolt Tensioners achieve this. As you can see in the animation below, the hardened washer is installed first. Then the nut body is threaded onto the existing stud or bolt, hand tight against the washer. The jackbolts are then tightened and thrust against the hardened washer. Accurate preload is achieved on the stud by torquing the jackbolts.

Now, let's learn about the advantages of using Superbolt Tensioners >>>

C-1:
One would need 18,925 ft•lb of torque to stress a 3" stud to 428,400 lbs using a hex nut. With a 3" MTX Supernut®, only 114 ft•lbs on each of the jackbolts is needed to produce the same bolt load.
Superbolt® supplies a wide variety of bolting products into every major industry, all over the world. Fast, safe and accurate bolting will ensure that your equipment is back up and running as quickly as possible. We'd love to discuss your application and show you how Superbolt® can help.
