Problem - In an attempt to offer the most reliable hydraulic four-post type press frame, Beckwood Hydraulic Press Company enlisted the expertise of Superbolt® to specify the optimum pre-tensioning tie rod assembly nuts. The criteria as set forth from Beckwood was; find a tensioning solution that would be simple, highly reliable and cost effective.

Solution - Beckwood integrated Superbolt®'s MT style tie rod nuts into an innovative hybrid design, to create the new Straight Side End-Frame (SSE) press. The SSE is manufactured with the rigidity of straight side press assemblies and the advantages of cylindrical guidance. The nuts allow for pre-tensioning of the press tie rods using standard and nominal sized hand tools. The nuts can be easily installed by one operator and are tightened to pre-engineered torque settings provided by Superbolt®. The new SSE press is available with the Superbolt® tensioners from 250-2000+ tons and an unlimited amount of size, stroke and controls in almost any press application.
