700 Ton Injection Molding Machine

Problem: Because the regular tie rod on this application could never be tightened properly, thread galling occurred frequently. For removal, an overhead crane was used. The nuts seized and had to be burned off.

Solution: Superbolt® Torquenuts eliminated thread galling problems, providing accurate and sufficient tie rod load. Because installation and removal can be accomplished with simple hand tools, overhead cranes were no longer needed, thus increasing worker safety.

Preload = 525,000 lb

Equivalent Torque for Standard Nut = 54,114 lb•ft

Multi-Jackbolt Torque = 170 lb•ft
