Bolted Segments
 Problem: The untightening of the bolted segments for regular service is difficult. Often the bolts require destructive removal, having to be cut with a torch.
Solution: Superbolt high-strength Torquebolts, together with Superbolt Flexnuts, are being installed to achieve the high preload levels and because they offer the best elasticity. The equipment can be installed and removed with only hand tools.
 Problem: The toothed rims are extremely large and are formed by several segments bolted together. Bolts have to be short and close to the outside of the rim. There are also many different sizes.
Solution: F.L. Smith had promoted the use of the Superbolt tensioner on their toothed rims for many years, because it holds the clamping force and is easy to handle. The suppliers to F.L. Smith discovered Superbolt and have been very happy with the results.
