3,250 Ton Forging Press
The press shown here took 8 hours per column nut (2-1/2 + days around the clock) to tension with thermal methods. Also, the columns had to be replaced after failure occurred because the nuts were not properly tightened above the working load. Solution: Superbolt® Torquenuts® are designed as direct replacements for the OEM nuts, and are being used by press OEM companies, press repair shops, and end users. Only ordinary hand torque wrenches are required to properly prestress any size press column. The entire operation can be performed safely by a single man in a fraction of the time it takes to use traditional tightening methods. This Mesta Press required less than 40 minutes each to tighten (6 hours total installation time) with only one man. Tension per Column = 2,625,000 lb. Jackbolt Torque = 275 lb-ft
